Young Citizens of America
-Promoting the Growth of Young Americans through the Arts-

B
eginning in 1983, and continuing through 1988, Larry and Alice Beebe conceived, developed and implemented the Young Citizens of America Program, a children's educational organization promoting the growth of Young Americans through the arts. For historical purposes, the pilot program was introduced in the Northern Virginia area. Sixteen children and their families were selected and the pilot program was launched.

The response of students, parents, educators and civic leaders was significantly favorable and a second year of vigorous development continued. Many more children and families became involved, and it proved to be an extremely effective program. The continuing enthusiasm of the children confirmed Larry and Alice's belief in the program and it's concepts, and this encouraged continued development of a study curriculum and awards program for the teaching of young citizens.

Currently, Young Citizens of America continues to expand its influence through group classes, after school clubs, special programs and in the spring of 2009, an online interactive, educational program will be available focused for ages 6 through 13.
